EASY Fresh Lemonade

As the summer months come to an end in Texas, it is still HOT. Recently we have been fortunate enough to have lots of rain this September which has kept the temperature cool. But a sweet refreshing drink is still a go-to. My boyfriend loves this Lemonade recipe and it is incredibly easy to make. We like to take this in tumblers when we hang in our hammocks, or are working outside gardening or grilling.

Servings 2 quarts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice ~3 large lemons
  • 2 cups Simple syrup 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water
  • 6 cups water
  • Ice

Instructions

  • To make the simple syrup, in small saucepan on medium-high heat, bring 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water to a simmer until all the sugar is dissolved. Stirring constantly. The final product should be clear. If it begins to turn brown it has been cooked too long.
  • In 2 quart pitcher add 1 cup lemon juice, then simple syrup mixture. Stir or swirl till combined. Slowly add in remaining water, stirring to combine.
  • Pour over ice when ready to serve! Garnish with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
*concentrated lemon juice from the grocery store in place of fresh lemons works the same.
*if avoiding simple granulated sugar, replace with equal amounts of preferred sweetener. Maple syrup, or agave syrup will change the taste slightly and deepen the color of the lemonade.
