We are Victor and Danielle, a young couple discovering our way through a more self sufficient life. Here at the boonstead we are dedicated to our land, our food, and our animals, bringing you information to help get you started on your self sufficient journey too! Now, let’s talk a little bit about us.
Do we have any experience with homesteading?
There is not simple answer to this question as everyone has a small amount of knowledge when it comes to taking care of a home and possibly even knowing some fruits and vegetables.
Victor’s family has a history of growing food and also building! He is skilled mechanically and has developed these skills over a number of years. But, don’t let that be intimidating if you are just starting out.
Danielle and her family also have experience in growing food and building, but have taken care of livestock as well. She has been growing tomatoes with her family for over a decade!
What Inspired us to get started?
One word inspired us to start a homestead. Freedom. We wanted to be able to become more self sufficient with the way the food availability is changing in the stores. We also are very passionate about the outdoors!
Freedom also means the ability to sustain ourselves in our home with food, water, and other amenities. We plan on documenting all the steps it takes to get as self sufficient as possible so you too, can take steps to becoming more self sufficient!
Meet the Family
Danielle – a passionate young woman ready to tackle any obstacle in her way. Including turtles.
Athena – a German Shorthair Pointer. Key strength, looking pretty for pictures.
Cleopatra (Cleo) – a black and white Tabby cat ready to destroy any mice, frog, lizard, or small creature that comes her way.
Zeus – Our newest addition, a black and grey tabby cat with a meow like a baby lion. Instead of climbing trees, he climbs our legs.
Victor – a hardworking young man with a drive for success. His first love, motorcycles.
Apollo – an Australian Cattle Dog. Favorite toy: a really good stick.
Nox – a solid black short hair cat. Pastimes include chasing bugs and lounging in the grass.
